At Seven, we believe that coaching is both a process as well as a program.
As a process:
| An approach to interacting with others focused more on asking than telling | |
| Can be utilized by anyone | |
| Can be strongly encouraged as a leadership style | |
| Curriculum courses teach the skills for using a coach approach at work |
As a program:
Coaching provides guidance in managing organizational change
and personal change in the organizational context, hones
the persons organizational leadership style and effectiveness,
provides an organizing framework to define the workers
organizational strategy and vision, emphasizes the development
of the person in the context of his or her work, counsels
leaders in the emotional and motivational aspects of work
and work relationships, helps the person improve interpersonal
effectiveness and communication skills at work, assists
the worker in understanding organizational leadership strengths
and weaknesses, emphasizes the importance of learning to
overcome adversity and to develop confidence and maturity
in ones work life.
Coaching can be pivotal in maximizing indi-vidual, team,
and company performance in the pursuit of organizational
goals, focuses on the persons development in the context
of the work environment, work-related tasks, and work relationships
remains within the bounds of the defined relationship and
doesnt involve personal interaction outside the work
setting.
